Reading Room
The small print

A little privacy,
by design.

The public pages ask for no account and include no external analytics, advertising, fonts, or social embeds.

Browser storage

On Reading Room, saved article identifiers may be stored in your browser’s local storage when you choose “Save +”. These choices are not sent to the server. You can remove them with the same button or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. Other page controls work in the open page.

Clocks and illustrations

Where a clock is displayed, its time comes from your device and its time-zone formatting comes from your browser. Illustrations are served with the page. These features do not require location access or calls to third-party services.

Delivering a website

A network connection is needed to send pages to your device. The hosting and delivery infrastructure may process standard connection, security, and error information to operate the service. These pages do not add scripts that track visits across websites.
